Wintonbury teachers visited Auerfarm on the professional development day to view our garden spaces and collaborate with the farm staff to revise and enhance our farm lessons.


A contingent of Carmen Arace Middle School students and the freshman class at Bloomfield High School attended Fridays' NAACP's Great Debate between Yale and Howard University in Bridgeport.
The Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater event was moderated by White House Correspondent April Ryan. It provided students the opportunity to learn more about the importance of research, oral argument, civil debate, critical thinking and sportsmanship.
About 5,000 students from around CT were in attendance.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month The Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence is seeing more domestic violence cases this year, including more cases of family violence involving children.
A community forum, hosted by the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District, is being conducted Monday, Oct. 16, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the town's community center, 330 Park Ave. Attendees will learn how to spot signs of domestic abuse and how to help - including available resources.

We are thrilled to have started our visits to Auerfarm. On their first visit, students go on a hay ride to the apple orchard and also search for other sources of food on the farm.


Laurel Literacy Academy students showcased Mexican hat-dancing skills this week in tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month. , which ends Oct. 15. District students have been learning about the contributions, cultures and rich histories of Americans whose ancestors were reared in Spanish- speaking countries. This year's theme is "Driving Prosperity, Power and Progress in America.”



Notice all Bloomfield families: The Back-to-School event – 2023 Extravaganza Day- postponed a few weeks ago has been rescheduled to Sunday, Oct. 8, from noon to 4 p.m., at the Rockwell Green, located on Rockwell Drive. Book bags and supplies will be available for free. There will also be games, entertainment food and ice cream.


Laurel Literacy Academy was officially christened today, with students, staff and town education leaders in attendance, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the gym.
The former Laurel Elementary School’s new name is is reflective of the intensive work being done over the past couple of years in reading, writing, comprehension, speaking and problem-solving at Laurel.




We welcomed Bloomfield Public Library to Wintonbury today. Each class will have a visit in October and in December from our town librarians.
