Welcome Back, Bloomfield Public Schools! 🕺🎶

We kicked off the 2026–2027 school year with an energetic “Back to the ’70s” Annual Convocation at Bloomfield High School on Monday, August 24! From ’70s music and dancing to an inspiring message from 2026 Teacher of the Year Jen Coleman and a fabulous costume contest, our staff brought the energy!

The theme was more than just fun—it represents our commitment to working toward a score in the 70s on the state accountability index and, most importantly, continuing to grow and improve outcomes for our students.

Following Convocation, staff engaged in professional development to prepare for an amazing year ahead. Planting Seeds. Inspiring Growth. Cultivating Excellence.

Here’s to a great 2026–2027 school year!

Here is clarification regarding residency verification. This requirement does not apply to families who rent or own property in the town of Bloomfield. Instead, it pertains solely to families or students considered as a "lives with" and residing with a Bloomfield resident. This means that you are not listed as a tenant on a lease or included on a mortgage loan. If you are residing with a Bloomfield resident a.k.a "Host" then verification must be submitted annually.

Please find linked below the necessary forms that both you and the Bloomfield resident must complete. The Residency Questionnaire must be completed in addition to a Certificate of Residency OR Residency Affidavit.

Residency Questionnaire: https://aptg.co/0R8k8k
Certificate of Residency: https://aptg.co/Pd3g11
Residency Affidavit: https://aptg.co/MhcQ5j
Documents Required for Residency Verification: https://aptg.co/S3RHHQ
(Note: Please submit one document from each category—A, B, and C. Additionally, utility bills must be dated within the last 60 days.)

Carefully review each scenario below to determine which document applies to your living situation and requires notarization. Both you and the Bloomfield resident must be present before the notary.

*Living Scenarios*

1 **Certificate of Residency** - If you reside in a dwelling that is rented or owned by another individual, the property owner or renter (referred to as the “Host”) must complete the Certificate of Residency Form. This form remains valid for the current school year and must be updated annually thereafter.

2 **Residency Affidavit** - If the child resides with someone other than their parent, a Residency Affidavit must be submitted.

Lastly, I am going through each file to confirm who is required to complete residency verification. Please expect a call/email by the end of next week to confirm this will need to be completed.

Should you have any further questions or wish to schedule a time to submit your documentation, please feel free to email me directly or contact our office at 860-286-2660.

Important Residency Confirmation Notification:

Good afternoon, families! This is a reminder to verify your residency if you and your child live with a Bloomfield resident, or if your child resides with a Bloomfield resident other than their parent.

Please be advised that a Certificate of Residency Form or a Residency Affidavit must be completed and notarized before the commencement of the school year, scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026. The notarized form and residency documents must be submitted to the school office by scheduling a Residency Verification Appointment. It is essential for the Bloomfield “Host” to be present on the day of this appointment.

To avoid enrollment delays, please submit all paperwork by Friday, August 7, 2026. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Erica LaPlante at eacevedo@bloomfieldschools.org or 860-286-2660. Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated. Required documents are linked below.

On June 12, members of the Bloomfield High School Class of 2026 took part in the annual Senior Parade, visiting schools across the district and inspiring the next generation of Bloomfield students.

From excited cheers in the hallways to heartfelt reunions with former teachers, the day was filled with pride, memories, and celebration as seniors reflected on how far they have come before graduation on June 16.
